![]() I chose geoTiff format because a world file is NOT necessary. With the cropped map containing my chosen layers I can now export to GeoTiff format.The map below is opened in Global Mapper and still in geopdf format. Once cropped, the map looks like this.To chop off the Map Collar I go to Options=>Cropping Tab=>Crop to Manually Specified Lat/Lon Boundary=>Accept the 'default' values. The geopdf is now opened in Global Mapper.The unchecked layers are consistent with the red X's in the previous image. A list appears where I can select or de-select the PDF's layers. After firing up Global Mapper, I set the coordinate system to LL83 with units using arc degrees (EPSG 4269) then 'open' or bring in the geopdf.The layers marked with a red X are layers that I'll turn off using Global Mapper. By default, the layers named Shaded Relief and Orthoimage will be turned off and in this example, I will keep those layers turned off. Open the PDF and click the Layer Icon on the left margin to view the PDF's clickable layers.Go to Get Maps | topoView () and find (or search for) the appropriate quadrangle.You need to use third party software such as Global Mapper so you can un-click the layer named Map Collar.A Geopdf format will provide 'clickable' layers. You need to download geopdf, and not jpeg, not kmz, not geotiff.You can use that site to download USGS 7.5 Minute Quadrangles but there's a catch. The files are attached in case anyone else wants to try, If all else fails I will probably revert to the workaround I did in the other post. I am sure this is true because if you double click the files attached to this post, google earth pro opens and the basemap that I want to show up in Civil3D appears. Online sources say kmz file types can store images ( ). I have used the mapimport command but there is no object data to create. So now I am trying to get this KMZ file to show up in Civil3D. So I opted for another solution as shown in this link (. I tried my hand at the geotiff since it came with a projection file and some users have stated the projection is wrong. The USGS website gives 4 types of files geotiff, geopdf, geojpeg, and kmz. ![]() So I have been trying to import different types of files and correctly georeference them.
